Many motorcycle riders have one thing in common: their love for the open road. They love those long rides down the highways, and are often happy to spend a warm evening or a sunny weekend on the back of their bikes. But although being an experienced rider can be good for your NJ motorcycle insurance costs, certain types of long-distance riding may see your premium rates blow out.

Riding out of the US
Not all policies cover riders who plan on undertaking a road trip into (for example) Canada or Mexico, and those that do may charge extra for this. If you’re planning on taking a trip that will take you beyond the borders, be sure to check your insurance policy first to avoid an unpleasant surprise.

Riding and risk
While the hours of experience you build up on the road are a great way to make you a safer rider, they also translate into increased risk. Every time you get on your bike you’re taking a risk, so the more often you ride, the greater your risk.
